Uit 2023, onderdeel van Nike's eigen Athletic Department-pack: geen samenwerking, maar een thema rond de uitstraling van oude schoolsportuitrusting. Dat zie je terug in de inlegzolen en de tongue tags, die eigen branding meekregen. Nike schrijft zelf over deze kleurstelling dat de opbouw teruggrijpt op het origineel uit 1987 en de nostalgische varsity-sfeer in volle kracht terugbrengt, met University Gold op een achtergrond van Light Bone.

Waarom deze schoen

Light Bone is een gebroken wit dat naar beige trekt, geen koel wit. Daardoor oogt het goud er warmer op dan het op een wit bovenwerk zou doen. Nike over het materiaal: glad leer contrasteert met luchtig mesh om dit icoon een visuele textuur te geven. Onder de voet de Max Air-eenheid die de Air Max 1 sinds 1987 zijn naam geeft.

De warme ondertoon sluit aan op beige, bruin en olijf. Bij donkere denim komt het goud het scherpst naar voren.
